Time to divulge a bit about the girl behind the brushes!
Hey, I’m Lauren!
I’ve been working in the hair and makeup industry since 2010, which as of now means I have over 13 years experience, I know, I know, I don’t look old enough…
I started my makeup career working for MAC cosmetics, and after a few years in the Artistry powerhouse, I moved on to work for Dior stepping up to take on more responsibility and picking up some new tricks along the way. I really enjoyed working in retail, it’s an environment that teaches you resilience, it builds on your confidence and most importantly, it really taught me how to ‘flex’ for each person sat in the chair.
No two faces are the same (I’m aware of identical twins) and seeing so many skin tones, textures, ages and genders over the years only forces you to embrace peoples differences and enhance their features. The only downside to retail is the hours, the absent Christmases and the relentless pace, so I stepped away to take up an office job freeing up my weekends for weddings and fun!
My journey so far…
I started with Makeup and then through freelance connections I branched into hair styling in 2014. I have always enjoyed playing with my own hair styles, I’ll admit I’ve had a few disasters (pillar box red circa. 2021 was one of my worst…cue a few bleach baths and a drastic bob fuelled by tears and despair) but provided I stay away from cutting or colouring hair, I really come into my own!
I often get asked which I prefer, hair or makeup, but I love them both equally and differently. Good hair and makeup can give you the confidence to walk into any room and I’m never fully dressed without my mask and my crown.
Now, I work throughout Kent and the South East, solo or with other stylists on larger jobs. I’ve built up a network of people who I can work with and rely on to help make any Bride’s vision come to life. I’m incredibly passionate about the work I do, I love meeting new people and I love watching their faces glow as I turn them into the best and most polished versions of themselves.
